Whether you have a wood-burning / multi-fuel stove, Rayburn / AGA or an open fire, it will require sweeping at least once a year.
Here at Chimney sweep south west we use a mixture of traditional and power sweeping techniques, depending on the age of the flue to make sure it is safe for use.
We also have modern CCTV to assist in locating any internal damage to your flue as well as investigating any blockages.
Regular Chimney sweep
If your chimney is not swept there is the risk, that the chimney can become blocked which can lead to Carbon Monoxide poisoning. The chimney could also become a severe fire risk if not swept regularly.
The best time to book your chimney sweep is in early spring or through the summer months to avoid any delays or disappointment.
It will usually take approximately half an hour to sweep your chimney, this may occasionally take longer due to blockages or a heavy build-up of tar.
We will do our upmost to make the process as clean as possible and take every reasonable step to ensure your room is fully protected. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and reputation.
When I arrive I will require a thirteen amp wall socket for my vacuum and as much space around the fireplace area as possible. A clear walkway must be provided to access the fireplace area. If you have some old dust sheets feel free to cover things that you might worry about. We will bring our own sheets but better safe than sorry. Most importantly the fire must be extinguished at least 24 hours prior to the sweep's arrival.
Once we have finished and the soot has been bagged we can either dispose of it in your own bin or leave it with you, (it has some great gardening properties).
